So the news broke on Friday, but now it’s officially shareable; Lovejoy’s will be ending their long stint downtown as one of the most badass, hardest, and unique brewpubs around.
LJs gave a myriad of reasons for the sad news, including “rising costs and decreasing revenues”, and mentioned the possibility of a future location less downtown.
We caught up with Lovejoy’s brewer Todd Henry and he expanded on this saying, in summation, that with the growth of new craft beer locations in more convenient locations, the new downtown extended-evening parking meters, and the ever present APD “paddy wagon” parked at the end of Neches all contributed to the end. He hopes to see Lovejoy’s resurrected in a new location and is looking forward to his next brewing venture. In recent years since Todd has taken over the brewhouse reigns, he has done an excellent job of creating and introducing several excellent news beers to the Austin brewing landscape.
You can drink the last of Todd’s beers at Lovejoy’s from now until August 5th.
