We’ve heard rumblings of the guys from Uncle Billy’s breaking off to do their own thing, but today it finally became more than brewmor.
Amos Lowe (head brewer at Uncle Billy’s Barton Springs) confirmed that he and Brian “Swifty” Peters (head brewer at UB on the Lake) are leaving to start Austin Beer Garden Brewing Company, along with Mark Jensen, Curt Knoblock and Jill Knobloch.
The exodus from the “que” doesn’t stop there as Tim Stevens (aka “Jesus”, aka “the guy who probably poured your beer at Barton Springs”) will serve as head chef while brewer Chris Fowler will head up the bar
They’re building a brewpub/venue in South Austin that will be centered around pizza and salads with a focus on ingredients from local farms.
Congrats to the guys on the big move. More to come…
Oh, and in other news, the Uncle Billy’s website is “temporarily unavailable”
